You have ability to set up different priorities for different kind of traffic that pass through the router. You can give higher priority to your mails than to your http traffic. This function is called quality of service or QoS.

My advice is that the first thing you change on the Linksys router is a username and password. There are many routers which are running and they still have default username and password. It is very easy to log in to these devices and to abuse them.

Also set configuration view to manual in order to see or change the SSID of your wireless network. After that click on the wireless security menu option, set the security mode and on passphrase on the key entry type the password which will be active on your network. This password is case sensitive.
