There is a plan with new WiFi standard called 802.11ac which will enable much higher speed in wireless networks. When we talk about the speeds in wireless network they are usually hypothetical, because it is always stated maximum speed. The real speeds depend on the many factors like range and interference. 

The latest WiFi technology which are we using is 802.11n and it has maximum speeds between 150 Mbps and 600 Mbps – depending on the number of antennas that access point or wireless router is using. The 802.11ac will have much greater speed from 433 Mbps to 1.3 Gbps. So there is a first WiFi signal working with gigabit speeds.

There is also a new feature which enables more reliable coverage in indoor places and it offers lower power consumption for clients, because with greater speeds you transfer data in less time. The difference is also in frequency on which it is working.

The new frequency band is 5GHz and this means that all devices will need to make the shift to this new frequency band. And this incompatibility with the old wireless standards which are working on the 2.4 GHz frequency spectrum is the greatest disadvantage of this new technology.

Also set configuration view to manual in order to see or change the SSID of your wireless network. After that click on the wireless security menu option, set the security mode and on passphrase on the key entry type the password which will be active on your network.
